According to the Financial Times, Oracle has already held talks with ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok. Sources suggest the company is serious about acquiring the app. The report says the firm is working with investors in the United States who have previously invested in ByteDance. This could give Oracle an advantage despite many assuming Microsoft led the race to acquire TikTok. Donald Trump wants to remove the company from the United States. The POTUS has been targeting Chinese companies who he believes worth with the Chinese government to provide US state secrets. An executive order stops ByteDance from handling any transactions in the United States. This order will come into effect within the next 45 days and could mean TikTok leaves the market in the country.

Microsoft has confirmed it has an interest in buying TikTok’s operations in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. So much so, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Trump spoke about the matter and Microsoft says discussions are ongoing. It is through Trump is unimpressed by such a deal.
