Today, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, introduced Xbox Game Pass, a new gaming subscription service coming later this spring. According to Spencer, Xbox Game Pass will give players unlimited access to more than 100 Xbox One and backward compatible Xbox 360 games for $9.99 per month. Titles such as Halo 5: Guardians, LEGO Batman, NBA 2K16, and Mad Max, will be included in Microsoft’s new offer.
Download the full titles
One of the most interesting aspects of Xbox Game Pass is the fact that it will allow players to download the full game titles on their Xbox One. Spencer notes that allowing players download the full game titles “means continuous, full-fidelity gameplay without having to worry about streaming, bandwidth or connectivity issues.” Every month starting this spring, new games will cycle into the subscription with some cycling out. Players will have the opportunity to constantly update their library of games with more than a hundred known titles. In addition, Microsoft’s new offer will provide subscribers with substantial discount offers, only available to members of the Xbox Game Pass. According to Xbox Game Pass’ official page, players will get an exclusive 20% discount on Xbox One games featured in the monthly catalog. A 10% discount on all related add-ons will also be available.
Xbox Game Pass enters Alpha Preview ring
Phil Spencer says that Microsoft will be testing the Xbox Game Pass with select members of the Xbox Insider Program, starting today. According to the Xbox chief, the “titles that are available in Preview are just a small glimpse at the expansive catalog of games that will be available when Xbox Game Pass launches this spring.” Spencer also revealed that Xbox Live Gold members will be receiving exclusive access to Xbox Game Pass prior to the program launching to the broader community.
