There’s still hope, however, for those who aren’t fussed by the different look. Pre-orders for the ‘Standard Edition’ of the One X are still coming before the console’s launch in November. Today, vice president of Xbox marketing Mike Nichols thanked fans for their early support, but he also hinted at more to come. “Although our fans may no longer be able to pre-order the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition in their country, we know people are still anxious to get their hands on the world’s most powerful console. We will be announcing details of the next wave of Xbox One X standard edition pre-orders next month so stay tuned for more information,” he explained.

The Gamescom Hype

Nichols also highlighted the console’s popularity in at Gamescom, adding, “Excitement is building – from developers who have committed that more than 100 new and existing games will be enhanced for Xbox One X, to the 300,000+ European fans who got the chance to experience the full power of Xbox One X this week, to receiving the gamescom 2017 award for best hardware.” He did not clarify if pre-orders will open next month, or if a date will be announced. Either way, the standard console will not cost any less than Scorpio, so it’s simply a choice of design and availability. Thankfully, Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg has vowed Microsoft will do everything it can to keep up with demand. The company is expecting it to be “the number one hit product of this holiday,” and will supply enough to match that.
