Considering the company announced in September it will no longer add new features to Windows 10 Mobile, this Photos app is for iOS and Android. Aggionarmenti Lumia reports the app is still in development and will allow users to transfer images quickly on their smartphone. Of course, there are no shortage of solutions for this on both platforms. Apple and various Android OEMs also bake quick-camera-transfer features into their native UI. However, this is typically limited to sending transfers, such as emails or a messenger service. Microsoft’s Photos app will be different and allow users to easily transfer images directly to a Windows 10 PC. This would work for devices (mobile and desktop) running on the same Wi-Fi network. The Photos app for iOS and Android will coincide with an overhaul of the Photos app on Windows 10. Microsoft is also working on this for its UWP app. Among the changes will be premium content for Office 365 subscribers, such as effects and themes that can be added to snaps. The report suggests users without Office 365 will also get new features. Among them is support for story enhancements and a favorites menu. This latter addition will allow users to group images after denoting them as a favorite. New photo effects, music, and stickers will also arrive, to help users add more life to their photos. The report points to eyeglasses and vintage cars as some of the new stickers arriving soon.
Availability
As this is an in-development situation, we expect Windows Insider Program members to get previews in the near future. As we are in between major Windows 10 releases (Fall Creators Update launched last month), this will arrive in the next update. That is Redstone 4, which has yet to be officially announced, but is in preview testing.
