The new Insider preview introduces some new features, while Microsoft has also made the normal unnamed performance improvements and bug fixes. In terms of new features, Microsoft has added animated 3D objects to the Excel app in Office. These animations bring more dynamism to spreadsheets with objects moving within the document. Elsewhere, Outlook has an improved folder support system. Microsoft says it has removed the 500 folder limit within shared mailboxes. You can check out the full Office 11708.20006 changelog below:
“Watch your spreadsheet come to life in Excel – Insert animated 3D objects and watch them move in the worksheet. Remove the 500 folder limit in shared mailboxes in Outlook – The synchronization limit of the first 500 folders has been removed in shared mailboxes. Bug fixes in other Microsoft Office suite programs.”
As always, you can update Office through any individual application by heading to File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.
Cloud Customer Check
Last week, the Homeland Security told Office 365 users to check their settings to ensure greater security. “The organizations that used a third party have had a mix of configurations that lowered their overall security posture (e.g., mailbox auditing disabled, unified audit log disabled, multi-factor authentication disabled on admin accounts),” said CISA. “In addition, the majority of these organizations did not have a dedicated IT security team to focus on their security in the cloud. These security oversights have led to user and mailbox compromises and vulnerabilities.”
