Over the last few weeks, customers have been able to pick up the entry-level Surface Book with $200 off its price. Similarly, the company also slashed $250 off the cheapest model that sports a discrete GPU. With the new deal, Microsoft has reduced all other models in the range by 10%. That is even applicable to the top of the line Core i7 powerhouses. Of course, that doesn’t make much sense as all three of the i7 machines are out of stock. Those devices arrived last year as Performance Base versions, offering better battery life and graphics. The 8GB Surface Book with 256GB SSD is not $2,159.10, a saving of $239.90 against its usual $2,399 price. The 16GB 512GB SSD model has been reduced by $279.90, from $2,799 to $2,519.10. Finally, the 16GB RAM version with 1TB SSD has been cut by $329.90. This model usually costs $3,299, but is now available for $2,969.10.
New Surface Book
Microsoft is now on the second iteration of its Surface Book, although the company has not released a sequel. Instead, an updated variant of the first model was released. As mentioned, this came with a performance base that potentially made the device an upgradable PC. However, Microsoft quashed that idea and said it will not sell the base separately. The updated Surface Book comes with 2x more graphics capability than any rival model currently available. This means the performance is doubled and trebled compared to the best MacBook Pro 13. As well as an updated processor, Microsoft put more batteries in the device for 16 hours of battery life. Microsoft says it is the best performing laptop on the market.
