The company says “Calendar attachments are now available in Outlook. View inline images and open attachments right from the event details.” Users have been requesting this feature for a long time, mostly because it brings more power to the calendar. Indeed, people have been asking for this ability since the end of 2015. Naturally, since then Microsoft has updated Outlook on iOS and Android many times but has overlooked attachment viewing. While Microsoft says the new feature is coming to the two platforms, it is limited on Apple’s iOS. The attachment facility is not available on the iPad, but is supported on the iPhone. Users can get the Android version from the Google Play Store and the iOS version from iTunes/App Store.
Cortana Integration
This month Microsoft is bringing some interesting features to Outlook on the leading mobile platforms. The company introduced Cortana integration to the email service at the start of March. However, the feature is not available yet as it is going through internal testing. Users of the email client will be able to have Cortana read emails too them. Similarly, the assistant can be used to respond to emails through voice dictation. For business users, this will be excellent when driving. For the rest of us, sending emails from the sofa will get a lot easier. The sources say Microsoft is testing the integration through a Bluetooth connection. Cortana will be powered to answer questions such as “what’s my email” or to surface content from a specific contact.
