The specifics of the MoU will see LG use Microsoft Azure cloud and artificial technology to underpin its in-vehicle digital platform. Working together, we can empower automakers to deliver differentiated mobility experiences, create new services and revenue opportunities, and to build safer, more intelligent and more sustainable vehicles.” LG will leverage Microsoft expertise in AI development to boost its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Driver-Status Monitoring Camera (DSM), and the company’s Multi-Purpose Front Camera solutions. Furthermore, LG will also integrate Microsoft’s Virtual Assistant Solution Accelerator into its in-car infotainment centers. The company says Microsoft’s technology will help autonomous vehicle technology evolve more rapidly. Under the deal, LG will use Microsoft’s AI expertise to enhance its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Driver-Status Monitoring Camera (DSM), and its Multi-Purpose Front Camera products. Microsoft’s Virtual Assistant Solution Accelerator will also be integrated into LG’s infotainment systems. LG said that Microsoft’s technology will help the self-driving software continually improve. “Our expectation is that the combination of Microsoft’s advanced cloud infrastructure with LG’s fast-growing automotive components business will accelerate the self-driving auto industry as a whole. With this move, LG is making a full push into self-driving technology. The company will use high-end GPUs underpinned by Microsoft Azure to enhance systems. Using Microsoft tools with LG computing power, the company predicts autonomous systems will learn and adapt faster. LG says the results will allow its systems to compute city patterns that would take a whole day in just several minutes.
