This is not a small pocket, but instead hundreds of gamers who are not enjoying the Windows 10 Creators Update experience. Specifically, they say games are stuttering and dropping frame rates after installing the update. Additionally, users report that usual fixes, such as clean installing drivers, do not remedy the problem. For the first time, Microsoft has acknowledged that the Creators Update does cause issues for gaming. On the company’s Feedback Hub, an engineer said the following about the problem: “Thank you everyone for providing feedback and submitting traces. We have been analyzing the traces from your feedback and have identified several different problem sources surfacing as stutter in games. We have a fix for one of them in the Windows Insider build that flighted to the “Fast” ring (build 16273 and above). You can find instructions on joining the Windows 10 Insider Program here: https://insider.windows.com/en-us/how-to-pc/. We are actively investigating the remaining stutter causes and appreciate your patience on this issue.”

Partial Fix

So, Microsoft says it solved one of the issues with Windows 10 preview build 16273. That release was sent out to the Fast Ring at the end of August. The company says it has fixed the stutter problem, but does not mention any of the other reported failings. Nevertheless, now the company has acknowledged the situation, hopefully progress can be made. Microsoft is now investigating all the problems and a fix could come soon. As for the stutter issue solved in build 16273, that preview should be fully available to all users when the Fall Creators Update launches in October.
