That means If you’re a Windows 10 user, you’ll see the chrome 74 update arrive via the usual mechanism, and dark mode will automatically kick into gear once Windows 10 users enable dark mode system-wide. But According to a Community Manager on the Chrome Help forum, Google is reportedly only “rolling out this feature to a small number of Chrome M74 users now” and “it will become more widely available in the near future” If you don’t want to wait for Google to fully enable this, there’s a shortcut trick to force dark mode:

How to enable dark theme on Chrome

Chrome 74 is available to download from Google’s Chrome site here, or from help > About Chrome if you’re already using the browser. Right click on the chrome shortcut (located on the desktop) select properties

Here on chrome shortcut properties Move to the Shortcut tab. In the “Target” field, you need to add the following parameters

And Target should look like similar to this line:

“C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome SxS\Application\chrome.exe” –force-dark-mode". If the above parameter doesn’t work, you can also try the following command line: –enable-features=WebUIDarkMode –force-dark-mode

Click the Apply and OK button to make save changes. That’s all open chrome browser this will represent the brand new dark mode.

If you want to revert the changes, again open chrome properties and remove the –force-dark-mode flag from the Target field to see Chrome with the normal default theme.
