The PC market is nowhere near what it was, but it is largely holding steady in recent years. Dell suggests the upgrade to Windows 11 and enterprises buying new hardware has resulted in a record-breaking July to September quarter. Dell points to demand for commercial PCs and workstations, while high-end PCs are also doing well. This suggests the business community has given the company the boost. However, the company also says its gaming output also saw growth. All in, Dell had Q3 2021 revenue of $28.4 billion, an 21% increase year on years, with total profit earnings of $3.9 billion. Client solutions, Dell’s business PC division, had revenue of $16.5 billion, up 35% compared to the same period last year.
HP
Rival HP saw similar growth for the same period (the company’s fiscal Q4 2021). Total revenue was $16.7 billion, up 9.3% from the COVID-19 impacted same period in 2020. Earnings were robust, totaling $3.1 billion over the period. For fiscal 2021 as a whole, HP brough $63.5 billion revenue, a $12.1% jump year-on-year, with earnings of $6.5 billion. While Dell says Windows 11 played a direct role in its growth, HP points to overall performance of hardware and software.
